The Ruger 77/44 a potent pill for deer in the thick woods.
Chambered in the well known .44 Magnum cartridge, the Ruger 77/44 is an excellent option for deer and other medium game when you’re in the thickest parts of your hunting woods. With a short overall length (38.50″), short length of pull (13.50″) and easily manageable recoil the .44 magnum rifle is also a good choice for shooters who are recoil sensitive or of smaller stature.
While the .44 Mag round is somewhat limited in range, the longer 18.50″ barrel of the 77/44 gives greater reach to an already powerful round. With a 1 in 20 twist rate the bullet retains accuracy beyond 100 yards with reasonable consistency.
Where this firearm truly comes into its own though is in the thick swamps and forests. Due to its short length and light weight the 77/44 is easy to point when the room to maneuver is at a minimum. This is also very beneficial when shooting from a small blind or treestand.
Patented integral scope mounts, machined directly on the solid-steel receiver, provide a stable mounting surface for scope rings, eliminating a potential source of looseness and inaccuracy in the field. The three-position safety is easily accessible and allows the shooter to lock the bolt to load and unload the rifle with the safety engaged, solid heat treated alloy and stainless steel actions feature a rugged, stainless steel bolt with 90° bolt lift and ultra-fast lock time for added accuracy. A detachable magazine features a unique rotary loading method to ensure reliable feeding while also giving a nice flush mount to prevent any protrusions at the rifles balance point. The cold hammer forged barrel and ultra precise rifling promotes exceptional longevity and easy cleaning
